Gaelic Cemetery crafts small volumes of super premium Clare Valley wines that reflect the variety, vintage and uniqueness of the place. The Gaelic Cemetery vineyard itself was established in 1996 on a parcel of land immediately adjacent to the historic Gaelic Cemetery approximately five kilometres due north of the Clare township – hence the name.
The Gaelic Cemetery Vineyard label design reflects the simplicity and minimal intervention approach taken
with the wine. The image of the thistle is taken from an old headstone in the cemetery.
Minimal use of water for irrigation, under the vine mulching to reduce moisture loss, mid row cover cropping to encourage microbial activity in the soils and using only organic based fungicides/pesticides are just some of the measure undertaken and all part of the mantra in the vineyard.
The Gaelic Cemetery wines themselves are packaged using fully recyclable materials including the bottles, corks, screwcaps and cartons that are used.

2021 McAskill Riesling
“1 of only 1200 bottles produced, the fruit for this wine is an older-vine selection from a single vineyard. This consists of layers of mouth-filling, palate-staining fruit concentration, testament to the wonderful ’21 vintage. Green apples, lime, lemon pith, some citrus florals and damp-chalk phenolics. As an outfit, the White Hut riesling offers more immediate drinking pleasure, but the spiny acidity and phenolic structure in this wine speak to the long life ahead of it. Very smart, classy and exciting.”

2020 White Hut Riesling
“There’s a sophisticated air and a ripeness profile of classic lime, lemon and Granny Smith apple; even a compelling note of white pepper unusual in this ripe season. Long linear finish.”

2021 Celtic Farm Riesling
“It’s your classic, punchy Clare Riesling with tangy citrus, roses, lime and exotic pear fruits that make quite the first impression. What follows is an elegant palate, fruit still on the front foot but well defined by its fresh acidity and a nice little musky touch on a finish of good length. Match it up with hot Barramundi and chips for a taste sensation.”
