The Nigl philosophy
“The trick is to create a perfectly balanced wine, bringing everything from the vineyard unscathed to the bottle: fruit, finesse, elegance, density and minerality.” – Martin Nigl

2021 Nigl Ried ‘Hochäcker’ Privat Riesling
VERY LIMITED
The steep terraces which are separated only by a wall from the Pellingen vineyard, form with their mica schist soil the optimal condition for the cultivation of Riesling. This combination gives the Riesling the dark cool mineral characteristic, as well as the typical taste of vineyard peach, a lot of substance and a long life. The Riesling Privat comes from this location.
“This great dry riesling masterpiece is
breathtakingly cool and delicate, pristine
and precise, yet is rippling with peach,
grapefruit and fresh-herb aromas. And the
mineral intensity is right off the scale! Even
after you’ve taken all this in, the wine
continues to pull you ever further into its
depths. Reminiscent of the astonishing
2001 vintage that’s still on top form today.”
– James Suckling

2021 Nigl Ried ‘Pellingen’ Grüner Veltliner Privat
LIMITED
With a bedrock of mica schist, 35 – 45-year-old vineyards grow here. This steep terrace location in Senftenberg is classified as a “Erste Lage” (First Location) according to the criteria of the Traditional Austrian Wineries. These grapes are the basis for our Grüner Veltliner Privat.
“What a breathtaking bouquet of orange
blossom, ripe melon and fresh basil, as
well as the more conventional gruner
veltliner aromas of white pepper and ripe
yellow apple. With every swirl of the glass,
it becomes more complex and exciting. On
the medium-bodied palate, this bowls you
over with its concentration and vitality.
Super-long finish that’s balanced on the
point of needle.”
