Winemaker Sam Scott founded La Prova in 2008, after two decades of experience in the wine industry, both internationally and in South Australia. He developed a natural affinity with Italian grape varieties early in his career, and came to see Australia as the ideal place for growing them.
La Prova is a grand experiment that brings together traditional Italian varieties and ancient Australian soils. The pairing creates wines that are ready for the future from grapes that use less water and withstand warming conditions, supporting a production philosophy that is inherently sustainable, and some would say necessary, to ensure the future of Australian wine.

The fruit is sourced from vineyards best suited to each variety; largely from the varied topography of the Adelaide Hills, but from farther afield too including Prosecco from King Valley.
La Prova prefers hand picking the fruit, using indigenous yeasts and older oak, and to avoid filtering, fining and additions except for minimal sulphites.
All wines are vegan friendly.
La Prova creates approachable, sophisticated wines of depth that keep curious drinkers interested.
