Nyetimber Awarded Champion Sparkling Wine at the International Wine Challenge
Nyetimber has been awarded two of the most prestigious trophies at the International Wine Challenge (IWC):
Champion Sparkling Wine and Sparkling Winemaker of the Year.

The Blanc de Blancs 2016 Magnum has become the first ever non-Champagne wine to win the Champion Sparkling Wine Trophy in the competition’s history, a remarkable milestone for English sparkling wine. Described by the judges as “a time capsule of a wine with mouth-watering acidity, citrus zest and camomile, with a chalky finish”, it achieved an exceptional 97 points.
Adding to this triumph, Nyetimber’s Head Winemaker Cherie Spriggs won Sparkling Winemaker of the Year for the second time, having first been awarded the trophy in 2018. At that time, she was the first person outside of Champagne to win the award, and she remains the only woman to ever have done so.

This double win follows earlier accolades this year, including earlier this year at London Wine Fair’s Battle of the Bubbles competition, when Nyetimber 1086 was named top scoring Global sparkling and the top scoring wine overall; pipping prestige cuvées from Champagne, including Dom Perignon 2013 and Dom Krug Grande Cuvée, 172ème Édition, to reach the top spot.
