DIO IPSI

Dio Ipsi was founded in 1990 by Christos Kokkalis, a pharmacist whose fascination with wine led him to plant Cabernet Sauvignon in the hills of Agios Andreas. His cult bottling, Trilogia, quietly earned international recognition before the property passed, in 2014, to Vangelis Gerovassiliou and Vassilis Tsaktsarlis of Ktima Biblia Chora, who have continued to shape the estate into one of Greece’s up-and-coming stars.

On the western edge of the Peloponnese, where sea breezes drift across the Ionian coast towards ancient Ilida, Ktima Dio Ipsi rises and falls over two opposing slopes facing Zakynthos. Organic vines cover 14.5 hectares, alongside olive trees rooted in the pale soils of Ilia, where the Mediterranean climate is tempered by constant maritime air. name translates as “Two Heights Estate”, a reference not only to the vineyard’s undulating topography, but also to the dialogue between freshness and ripeness that defines the wines grown here. 

The 2024 Dialogos White captures that philosophy neatly. A blend of Assyrtiko and Kydonitsa — the latter a little-known Peloponnesian variety named after quince — it balances texture and tension with surprising ease. Fermented in stainless steel to preserve clarity and freshness, the wine leans into aromas of peach skin, citrus peel and wild herbs, with the saline edge and taut acidity that Assyrtiko brings so naturally. There’s generosity here, but also nerve: a white that feels entirely Mediterranean, best poured chilled beside grilled seafood, olive oil-rich dishes, and long summer afternoons near the sea.
