From the heart of its historic domaine on the slopes of the Corton hillside, Maison Louis Latour has witnessed and helped shape more than two centuries of Burgundian wine history. Founded in 1797, the house stands today as one of Burgundy’s most respected and enduring wine producers.

The Latour family’s roots in Burgundy stretch back even further than the founding of the Maison. Established as winegrowers in the Côte de Beaune since at least 1731, the family settled in Aloxe-Corton in 1768, acquiring vineyards on and around the renowned Hill of Corton. Through patience, determination, and a long-term commitment to excellence, they gradually built an exceptional vineyard estate that today spans approximately 50 hectares, including one of the largest collections of Grand Cru vineyards in the Côte d’Or.

Throughout the nineteenth century, the family’s success enabled a series of significant acquisitions that helped establish their reputation. In 1867, they acquired the négociant business of Lamarosse Père et Fils in Beaune, expanding their reach throughout Burgundy. Further growth followed in 1890 with the purchase of the Château de Corton Grancey, its winery, and 17 hectares of vineyards from the Comte de Grancey. A decade later, the family strengthened its holdings with prestigious parcels in two of the Côte de Nuits’ most celebrated Grand Crus: Romanée-Saint-Vivant and Chambertin.

Today, the company is led by Florent Latour, representing the eleventh generation of the founding family. Like those who came before him, he continues to preserve the estate’s unique legacy while guiding its future with ambition and vision.

While deeply rooted in tradition, the estate has never stood still. Long before sustainability became a widespread industry focus, Louis Latour embraced biodiversity and environmentally conscious viticulture. Organic composts, cover crops, and low-intervention vineyard practices have become integral components of the estate’s approach, contributing to healthier vineyards and more expressive wines.

In recent years, a series of thoughtful refinements has further elevated the quality and precision of the wines. Much of this evolution has occurred under the influence of Christophe Deola, who joined the company in 2011 and became Director of Domaine Louis Latour in 2017. Working within the house’s established Burgundian philosophy, Deola has introduced subtle yet significant changes in both vineyard and cellar.

Longer macerations have brought additional depth, texture, and complexity to the red wines, enhancing their structure while preserving elegance. In the vineyards, earlier harvesting and carefully managed yields have increased freshness and precision in the white wines, delivering greater tension, vibrancy, and energy. The result is a portfolio that remains unmistakably Louis Latour while offering even greater clarity of terroir and vintage expression. Beginning with the 2023 vintage, the estate adopted Diam closures across its range, a move designed to ensure consistency and preserve the integrity of each bottle while virtually eliminating the risk of cork taint.

More than 225 years after its founding, Maison Louis Latour continues to embody the finest traditions of Burgundy.
