MESTA
A little bit of bottled culture, geography and history.
Organic wines. Sustainably grown.
A pure expression of nature and heritage.
Historically, ‘The Mesta’ was an alliance of shepherds in medieval Castile, Spain, who controlled the ‘cañadas’ – rights of way for migrating sheep. It’s from this important cultural and historical link to central Castile, that Mesta wines take their name. Mesta’s vineyards are spread over 1,000 hectares of beautiful, high-altitude land, deep in the heart of the traditional ‘Mesta’ country.
Mesta’s philosophy, in honouring the name of The Mesta, is to create wines which are representative of the land from which they grow, wines that are “always an authentic and pure expression of their origin and variety”. They use organic and sustainable viticulture methods and respectful winemaking to produce fresh, authentic wines that reflect local growing conditions and culture.
