Born and bred in the heart of the Barossa Valley, Rock (Pete) of Wisdom (Sofi) serves more than 15 years of experience in every drop of its delicate range of wines.
Rock of Wisdom brings drinkability to the fore, and its wines are made for people to drink, not discuss – when you open a bottle, you’ll savour the beautiful, softer side of the Barossa coupled with minimal intervention and an approachable ethos.
All of the fruit they purchase is sustainably grown with longevity of the vineyards being at the forefront. Their style has evolved over time with aspects taken from everywhere that they have worked (Pete’s claim to fame – he is the only winemaker to have worked at Torbreck and Penfolds!). Their aim is to show the softer more elegant side of the Barossa – “not all wines need to be turned up to 11 Spinal Tap style”. In terms of oak, they only use French oak, predominately older barrels to achieve the softer, elegant vibe that they go for. Their barrels are all stored at 2 o’clock, where the full barrel is rotated off-centre with the bung at roughly 2 o’clock. This keeps the wines fresher while aging, and holds the sulphur better so that they can use a much lower amount, in turn keeping the wines softer.
