Papagiannakos winery is located in Mesogaia, Attica, in proximity to the Temple of Artemis, the haunt of Dionysus, the patron saint of wine, where for centuries the ancient method of wine production has been maintained and the vines have been lovingly cared for.
Its Mediterranean climate is distinguished by legendary sunlight, “the greatest in Greece.”
The Papagiannakos family have been involved in the Attica region since the 12th Century. It is in the last decades though, under the guidance of Vassilis Papagiannakos, that they have forged their own path, showing the world what the variety Savatiano is capable of.

Since the 60’s Papagiannakos has worked to lift the variety, Savatiano, to ever greater heights.
The modern take on Retsina sees a balance of flavours that truly speaks of Greece and the Old Vines Savatiano is immediately delicious, but also age worthy.
Retsina is Greece’s national wine, with a history and tradition going back at least 2000 years. Retsina is made with the addition of pine resin, to produce a bright and invigorating wine, perfectly matched with the strong, powerful flavours of Greek food.
A true pioneer of the Modern Greek Wine industry, these wines are a pure expression of their region.
